for Just for Laughs
Cossette Communication Group's web agency has developed an interactive, file-sharing web community for comedy pros and amateurs alike. In both official languages, they're calling JustForLaughs.com a first in Canada.
Fjord Interactive Marketing & Technology, the interactive arm of Quebec City-HQ’d Cossette Communication Group, has taken JustForLaughs into the world of Web 2.0 by launching a broadband comedy site showcasing video clips and user-generated content – in what they’re calling a ‘comedic laboratory’ used for the development of new ideas and talented amateurs. The site’s launch also marks a new property for advertisers. Pontiac and Branchez Vous! are already in with banners and animated boxes, and the best in funny TV ads are also part of JFL’s mandate.
JustForLaughs.com is packed with clips from its comedic services, including Gags, Just for Variety, and Just Kidding. The best of the best in funny TV ads from around the world are also on the content list. The broadband site also allows comedians to post their profiles and video clips and test out their gag ideas. Visitors can join the JustForLaughs community by becoming members and posting their own profiles and video clips. Contests for amateurs, developed around specific themes, are also in the works.
JustForLaughs head of Internet initiatives Louis Malafarina says they wanted a web destination that would make people laugh and participate. ‘The Fjord group gave us creative freedom over the site’s content, but provided us with technological parameters that would guarantee a site that is user-friendly, has longevity, and would generate a lot of hits.’
