Go ahead, put your own vid on Much

Teens with aspirations of directing their own music videos and actually getting them on the air - at least for 60 seconds - are being challenged to do just that. MuchMusic is opening the airwaves to content coming in online, and SportChek is in on the action, sponsoring the online showcase.

MuchMusic is taking its latest interactive online user-generated content experiment to the next level, promising to edit the best fan-submitted snippets into the music video for ‘Street Fight,’ by Canadian pop rockers Hedley. Users can download a 60-second clip of the single, make their own clip to match the song, and upload it to MuchMusic.com.

The band will choose favourites and then the best creations will be edited into the video for broadcast across the country on Dec. 4 on MuchOnDemand. The winning entry, dubbed a fan/artist hybrid, will be viewable as a MuchExclusive at the website. As well, all other submissions can be viewed by users.

SportChek is tied in for sponsorship, using banner ads at the online Hedley Show Me Yours showcase. The online promo also pushes Hedley music downloads, ringtones, videos and their new DVD, Try This At Home.
