AOL clicks to score with NHL content

AOL Canada is getting in on the NHL playoffs content game with a microsite open to marketer involvement. The microsite (www.aol.ca/nhlplayoffs) went live Friday and features video highlights, clips from classic games, blogs by CBC’s Scott Morrison (commentator for Hockey Night in Canada) and Sportsnet.ca‘s Alan Adams, stats, trivia, and a click-and-shoot game that lets users fire a few pucks.

The microsite is open to co-branding sponsorship opps, as well as banner and rich media ad placement within the AOL Canada Media Network, which reaches over 19 million unique visitors monthly (86% of all Canadians online), according to comScore Media Metrix’s January numbers. AOL Canada’s AOR, Environics, reports a sponsor for the microsite can expect 1.5 million ad impressions. The network’s microsite for the Super Bowl attracted 400,000 page views.
