China takes August on Discovery HD

In a bid to build hype for the 2008 Olympics, the net is going all out with a spotlight on China.

CTVglobemedia’s Discovery HD is following up Shark Week programming with an entire month dedicated to China. The net’s China Month programming blitz explores the culture, history and geography of the country as a build-up to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Every night from August 4-21 at 8 and 9 pm ET/5 and 9 pm PT, the net will air China-related specials. The premiere program is China: Rise of the Golden Dragon (Aug. 4 at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT), which documents Beijing’s National Swimming Centre, shipbuilding, the super-fast Shanghai racetrack, China’s manned space program, traffic management in Beijing’s bustling city centre, Sutong Bridge and the autocar.
