CTV airing specials, ‘mobathon’ in December
The Shrek gang celebrates Christmas, plus there's a Spice Girls doc, a new Oprah special and the final nine eps of The Sopranos.
Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom’s For One More Day will air Dec. 9 at 9 pm. Based on Albom’s bestselling novel, the special stars Emmy Award-winning Sopranos actor Michael Imperioli as a suicidal former baseball player who’s granted one more day to spend with his deceased mother, played by Academy Award-winner Ellen Burstyn (Requiem for a Dream, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore).
Shrek comes to know the true meaning of Christmas in a new half-hour made-for-TV holiday special, Shrek the Halls, which will air Dec. 3 at 8 pm and Dec. 11 at 8 pm. Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) tries to get in the spirit of Christmas for the sake of Fiona (Cameron Diaz) and the kids, but he isn’t pleased when Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) disrupt his plans.
Spice Girls: Giving You Everything, airing Dec. 17 at 9 pm ET and Dec. 30 at 7 pm ET, is a one-hour documentary-style special that portrays the most successful girl group of all time. The film features archived footage from around the world plus narration by the eponymous singers.
And The Sopranos Mob-a-Thon will run nightly from Dec. 21-23 and Dec. 26-31 at 10 pm in all markets across Canada.
