New college program to prepare future media strategists
The new Advertising Media Management program announced yesterday by Toronto’s Centennial College is designed to address frequently expressed concerns about where the next generation of media planning and buying specialists is going to come from.
Applications are currently being accepted for the one-year post-graduate certificate program, which is aimed at college and university grads who have experience and/or interest in advertising, and includes a 15-week field placement with an agency or research company.
‘The advertising industry is demanding that graduates be trained in research and analysis,’ explains program coordinator Colette Brochu. ‘There’s so much money spent on advertising, clients want to be assured their placements are effective.’
This new program will be added to the two advertising programs already offered by the college – a one-year specialty in Advertising Account Management and a three-year postsecondary program in Advertising.
