Branson, musicians sign musical gear for charity auction
The beneficiary is Virgin Unite, which acts as a catalyst for entrepreneurial, business-based solutions to social and environmental issues.
Gift-givers who’d like to put their money where it will do a lot of good just got an offbeat option, thanks to Virgin Unite.
A dozen autographed guitars and other musical gear have been put up for auction, with the proceeds going to Virgin’s entrepreneurial foundation, which acts as a catalyst for business-based solutions to social and environmental issues.
Guitars have been signed by KT Tunstall, Ben Harper, the Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Nikki Sixx, Fall Out Boy, Wolfmother, Jewel and Virgin mogul Richard Branson. As well, Bon Jovi has signed a leather jacket, Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick has signed a bass drum cover and Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys has put his signature on a cymbal.
In conjunction with the auction, a contest will run through March 31. Anyone who signs up on Virgin Unite’s microsite will be entered in a draw for a pair of VIP tickets to the 2008 Virgin Festival in Baltimore in August.
