Branchez-Vous acquires Quebec humour, sports sites

Montreal-based Branchez-Vous has acquired two Quebec properties – sports site Fanatique.ca and humour site HumourQuebec.com. The founding publisher of both sites, Émile Girard, joins the Branchez-Vous team as producer in charge of communities.

Fanatique.ca is the third-most-visited sports site in French Canada in monthly reach. About 250,000 Canadians visit it on a monthly basis. HumourQuebec.com, featuring jokes and blog tools for young and aspiring artists, is the most-visited Quebec-based humour site in French Canada in monthly reach. It attracts about 100,000 Canadians monthly.

‘Fanatique.ca will be a perfect complement to the BRANCHEZ-VOUS.com information portal, which should soon include the Matin.qc.ca news site,’ says Branchez-Vous content director Carl Charest. ‘As for HumourQuebec.com, it will join a new group of entertainment sites anchored by Showbizz.net.’

The Branchez-Vous network includes over 200 French-language websites (approximately 50 of which are represented on an exclusive basis) and reaches about three million French Canadians monthly. Branchez-Vous.com itself reaches about 500,000 users each month. Other sites in the network include GlobeTrotter.net, LeDevoir.com, JeuxVideo.com and the French version of Canada411.ca.
