Canwest launches digital transmitters

Canwest Broadcasting is launching three new digital transmitters on April 18 that will allow the broadcaster to air HD programming on Global Ontario, Global BC and E! Ontario.

Over 25 primetime shows – such as House, The Office, Brothers & Sisters and How I Met Your Mother – will now broadcast in HD in those markets, along with events like PGDA Golf and Wimbledon.

The announcement follows a milestone for ET Canada, which became the first domestic daily entertainment show to broadcast in HD.

‘The digital transmitters are launching just as new episodes of our viewer favourites return to the networks,’ says EVP content Barbara Williams. ‘We are offering our viewers the best programming via the best quality broadcast signals.’
