Notes from the Mediascape: Publisher’s contest invites new kind of CGC
After achieving supermodel status by appearing on the cover of more than 700 magazines, plus selling millions of calendars, posters and exercise videos, Carol Alt became a novelist earlier this year, penning This Year’s Model.
Now her publisher, HarperCollins imprint Avon A, together with fashion retailer Lord & Taylor, is revving up excitement for Alt’s upcoming sequel – Next Year’s Model – with a contest whose winner will get to be the cover model on the book.
Contestants (female only) can post photos of themselves on a microsite until Nov. 20. The next day, Alt and two other fashion experts will select four finalists for the next round – when the public will get to vote on who will grace the book cover.
