VisionTV set to debut Soul
Canada's multi-faith broadcaster is rolling out its first original drama series, plus three new documentaries.
Toronto-based VisionTV is debuting its first original drama series, the six-part, hour-long Soul, on Feb. 11 at 9 pm and 1 am. It anticipates a cross-gender audience ages 25 to 49.
The series follows the journey of a young gospel singer, Mahalia Brown (Keshia Chante), as she enters the world of pop stardom. Guest stars include Michael Beach (ER, Third Watch) and Jessica Parker Kennedy (Smallville), among others.
The new VisionTV programming includes three documentaries, all skewing male. The six-part documentary series God Bless America, about politics and faith in the US, begins Jan. 19 at 10 pm, while the 17-ep, 30-min anthology series I Prophesy airs Jan. 27 at 10 pm, and looks at modern-day prophets and their predictions about the future of mankind. It is followed by Supernatural Investigator (hosted by Canadian science fiction author Robert J. Sawyer) at 10:30 pm, which examines stories of paranormal happenings.
VisionTV has a weekly reach of over one million viewers.
