Mandel lands on Fridays
The Howie Mandel comedy Howie Do It and newbie Lie to Me join the sked, amid midseason shuffle.
Canwest Broadcasting released its midseason schedule for its main conventional channel on Thursday, announcing that Global Television is set to air the Howie Mandel comedy Howie Do It, co-produced with NBC, on Friday nights at 8 pm starting Jan. 9. Global will also simulcast the third season of NBC’s Friday Night Lights on Fridays at 9 pm, up against the simulcast of the Canadian cop drama Flashpoint on rival CTV and CBS.
As well, Global will debut Fox’s Lie to Me on Wednesday nights at 9 pm on Jan. 21. The crime drama stars Tim Roth as a human lie detector who reads faces, body language and voices to uncover clues in police investigations.
Other midseason moves include the homegrown Project Runway Canada series migrating to Global Television on Tuesdays at 10 pm starting Jan. 27. The fashion model competition series will also return to the Slice specialty channel on Saturdays at 9 pm starting Jan. 31.
Also on the schedule, which is heavy on simulcasts, is the return of the Fox thriller 24, with a four-hour season premiere on Jan. 11 and 12 at 8 pm. Subsequent episodes will air Mondays at 9 pm starting Jan. 19.
Other changes include Fox’s House going to a new slot on Mondays at 8 pm starting Jan. 19, and Fox’s Bones going to Thursdays at 8 pm starting Jan. 15. In addition, CBS’ NCIS goes to Tuesdays at 8 pm starting Jan. 6.
Canwest has yet to announce the midseason plans for its E! network.
