NFL Super Bowl is on top, but a touch down from last year

Here are the national champs (for all persons 2+; all times ET) according to BBM/Nielsen for Jan. 26 – Feb. 1, 2009:

Monday: House on Global at 8 pm was the most-watched program for the second week in a row with 2.417 million viewers (last week it had a marginally larger audience of 2.425 million viewers.)

Tuesday: American Idol at 8 pm on CTV took the top spot again, with 2.046 million viewers (the reality show had an audience of 1.953 million as the highest-rated program the previous week).

Wednesday: American Idol on CTV at 8 pm prevailed with an audience of 2.335 million (it knocked off CTV’s Criminal Minds, which was on top the previous week with 2.050 million viewers).

Thursday: CSI was back on top at 9 pm on CTV with a whopping 3.188 million viewers (Grey’s Anatomy was most viewed the previous week with 2.233 million viewers).

Friday: CTV Evening News at 6 pm was most popular for the day with 1.417 million viewers (it also had the highest ratings for the day the previous week with 1.409 million viewers).

Saturday: Hockey Night in Canada on CBC at 7 pm had the highest audience with 1.284 million viewers (NHL all-star skills event on CBC was most-watched the previous week with 1.358 million viewers).

Sunday: CTV’s broadcast of the NFL Super Bowl at 6 pm was the highest-rated for the week with 3.602 – a smaller audience share when compared to last year’s 4.234 million (CBC’s broadcast of the NHL All-Star game in Montreal was the winning program the previous week with 1.516 million viewers).
