The Score offers digital NBA highlights
Sprite signs on as the exclusive presenting partner of The Score's NBA digital and mobile offerings.
Score Media announced a new relationship with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in Canada this week that gives fans the opportunity to watch NBA video highlights, news and features online and on their mobile phones.
Starting with the 2009 NBA playoffs and running through the 2009-2010 regular season and playoffs, The Score, an NBA television partner since 2001, will offer fans in Canada daily digital highlight packages for every NBA game. Fans will also be able to access breaking news and signature Score NBA highlight features, like ‘Court Cuts,’ best slam dunks, and interview segments with The Score’s host personality, who travels around to team locker rooms. NBA content will also be available on mobile phones through the ScoreMobile iPhone Edition.
Sprite will be the presenting partner of The Score’s NBA digital content offerings through 30-second TV ads and 10-second mobile pre-roll ads, ad well as some online banner ad placements. ‘Sprite has enjoyed long relationships with both The Score and the NBA, and we’re thrilled to be partnering together on this new agreement,’ says Michelle Hurley, marketing manager, Sprite.
There has been heavy and vocal request for highlight content on mobile, says Dale Fallon, director of mobile at The Score, adding that the network has had more than 440,000 downloads of the iPhone application since August 2008. TheScore.com receives about seven million unique page views per month according to Google Analytics, and about 8.3 page views from mobile users.
‘The old experience of flipping on the TV late at night or first thing in the morning hasn’t been completely replaced, but is being complemented by people wanting to watch on their phone, so they have it with them all the time,’ Fallon says.
