A dozen make strategy‘s 2009 Media Agency of the Year shortlist

Ditto for the Agency of the Year shortlist. And to round out the field of candidates our juries will be assessing, nominations are now open for Media Director of the Year, until August 1.

A poll of media agency presidents, media directors, media sellers and marketers from across the country has determined the 12-agency shortlist for strategy magazine’s 2009 Media Agency of the Year (MAOY) competition.

The 12 media agencies will submit three media campaigns to a jury of marketers, media sellers, agency and media agency execs, who will determine the winner based on creativity, strategy and impact of the body of work. Last year, Starcom MediaVest Group took gold, Mediaedge:cia won silver and PHD won bronze. Mediacom earned an honourable mention. The jury will also determine Media Director of the Year and the Next Media Star. Nominations for Media Director of the Year are now open, and can be submitted to strategy special reports editor Carey Toane until Aug. 1.

Meanwhile, the AOY shortlist, which is based on a separate survey of marketers and agency folks from across the country, is also comprised of 12 agencies this year, down two from 2008.
