Genesis Vizeum rebrands as Vizeum Canada
The Aegis Media Group-owned agency shakes up its management team structure under the new name.
Following the departure of Genesis Media founder Bruce Claassen last year, Aegis Media Group’s Genesis Vizeum is now called Vizeum Canada.
Effective today, the name change was made to ‘better reflect’ the firm’s alignment with the Vizeum brand, and to reposition itself in wake of Genesis Media founder, and Aegis Media Canada chairman, Bruce Claassen, a release on the matter stated. Claassen left to head new media holding company, Bluepoint Investment.
‘We are extremely excited about this rebranding as it signifies a critical point in our transformation from traditional media shop to a true ‘connections planning’ company,’ said Vizeum COO Annette Warring in a release.
The new name brings with some changes to the firm’s management structure and a new team dedicated to communications planning. Micheal Bispo has been named vice president, account planning, and will head the new team across all three Canadian offices. Jim Gordon has been named SVP, managing director, for ops in Vancouver.
Derek Bhopalsingh will continue in his role as VP, interactive, but will see his portfolio grow with an increased focus on social media and new engagement platforms. Lisa Hudson also retains her position as vice president, client service, and will see her role in the Toronto office expand as well.
Genesis Media was founded in 1992 and the Canadian division of Vizeum was founded in 2006. Aegis Media Group acquired Genesis Media in 2007.
This article was updated at 12:30 p.m. to refect a clarification regarding the rebranding. As Genesis Media was the founding agency, the name change is not a return to an older name, but in fact a rebranding of the agency under a new name.
