Schick Canada sponsors Global app
The razor and gel company is promoting its Hydro brand with the four-week sponsorship.
Schick Canada has gone mobile with its sponsorship of the launch of Shaw Media’s Global App for iPad, which was the #1 free download in the Canadian app store in its first week available.
The four-week sponsorship wasn’t pre-planned and came together when the razor and gel company was approached with the opportunity by its media agency, MEC in Toronto.
This is the first year Schick is promoting a men’s razor brand during the holiday season, and the extra bump the sponsorship could bring in December was attractive, Josh Gardner, brand manager, Schick Canada, tells MiC.
‘They’ve got very good programming and people are really starting to watch things online, and the iPad is a part of that,’ Gardner says. ‘Plus, we knew that Global had it in their interests to really promote the iPad app, so we knew we’d be getting good support from them.’
The deal gets the Schick Hydro a ‘brought to you by’ line on the splash page or loading page, a clickable logo in the bottom corner of navigation pages and the first pre-roll ad for every show on the app. The Schick Hydro logo also appears on the Global website and on-air as part of the app promos.
The Global app offers full episodes of the channel’s top shows, schedules and web-exclusive content.
