MuchMusic and MTV see digital and social growth in 2010

Both channels saw gains in website visits and social media influence.

It was a banner year for CTV’s digital music brands in 2010, as and report a combined 298 million video views, a 67% spike over 2009.

The record numbers showed that’s video views climbed 108%, with seeing a 59% increase, the latter averaging 19.8 million hits per month.

Audience size was also up, with average monthly unique visitors on up 50% and up by 37%. Page views on both sites also saw an increase: 51% on and 39% on

Both brands have been seeing successes on the social media front as well. MuchMusic’s fan base on Facebook tripled in the past six months, averaging 1,500 ‘likes’ per day with 390,000 Facebook fans and 133,000 Twitter followers. MTV almost doubled its Facebook fans in the same time frame.

On Twitter, @MuchMusic and @mtvcanada rank first and second respectively in the Top 10 Canadian Cable Networks, while social influence measurement tool Klout picked MuchMusic as the number one most influential media brand in Canada at the end of 2010.
