Schouela named VP marketing at Shaw Media
The TV marketing veteran will helm branding and marketing initiatives across Shaw's conventional and speciality channels.
Shaw Media has named Jamie Schouela as its new vice president of marketing, overseeing the marketing and publicity for Global Television and the broadcaster’s 19 specialty channels.
The appointment puts Schouela in charge of branding Shaw Media’s newly-acquired TV assets, and follows Christine Shipton being named to oversee original content commissioning across Global and the specialty channels.
Additionally, Daniel Eves was recently put in charge of scheduling all cable channels as VP of programming and specialty scheduling, and Phil Piazza is to purchase acquired content for all networks, while scheduling Global Television as VP of content acquisitions.
With so much executive power concentrated at the top and across all Shaw Media channels, a question mark was raised over who would brand the individual TV assets.
Enter Schouela, who spent seven years with Alliance Atlantis leading branding campaigns on channels like Showcase, History, BBC Canada, Action, and Showcase Diva, and also oversaw for five years the marketing and publicity efforts for Global Television.
‘We are confident that Jamie’s experience, coupled with his passion for our business will enable him to effectively lead our marketing organization and position our business for continued growth and success,’ Shaw Media president Paul Robertson said in a statement.
Shaw Media’s continuing restructuring follows parent Shaw Communications acquiring the former Canwest Global Communications Corp.’s TV assets for $2 billion, pulling them out of voluntary bankruptcy protection and rebranding them as Shaw Media.
