So You Think You Can Dance Canada is cancelled

Bell Media will not be ordering another season of the Canadian reality dance series.

A Bell Media spokesperson has confirmed that CTV will not be ordering a fifth season of So You Think You Can Dance Canada.

The show, which ended its fourth season on Sunday with dancer Jordan Clark (pictured) taking home the $100,000 prize, was cancelled according to an official statement from Bell Media.

Sunday’s finale was watched by 903,000 viewers, according to BBM Canada, down 27% compared to last year’s finale.  In Toronto,  the audience for the fourth season was down 64% in the 25 to 54 demographic from the first season finale.

Overall, ratings for the fourth season of the reality show have dropped 31% for the 25 to 54 demographic, from season one, and 43% for ages 18 to 34, according to BBM Canada.

“After four seasons and 92 episodes, CTV has decided to pursue other program strategies,” said the statement. “This decision was made after careful consideration, including viewership and economic factors. We remain extremely proud of the legacy of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, including raising the profile of dance in this country.”

The show worked with sponsors including Chevrolet, HTC, Mentos, Ubisoft and McDonald’s in its fourth and final season
