Magazines decline in last half of 2011

Magazines continued to dip in the last six months of 2011, according to the latest report from the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

Total paid and verified circulation was down 4.94% versus the same period in 2010, from 6.99 million in 2010, to 6.64 million in the last half of 2011.

Paid subscriptions were down 5.79%, from 5.33 million in 2010 to 5.02 million in the latter half of 2011.

Single-copy sales also saw a drop, losing 2.35% with a dip from 1.35 million magazines sold in the last half of 2010 to 1.32 million in the last six months of 2011.

-Maclean’s: 330,203 (-1.74% vs. Dec. 2010)

-Canadian House & Home: 242,575 (-0.72% vs. Dec. 2010)

-Style at Home: 230,927 (-0.36% vs. Dec. 2010)

-Coup de Pouce: 217,185 (-0.14% vs. Dec. 2010)

-Our Canada: 177,133 (-21.42% vs. Dec. 2010)

-Canadian Geographic: 174,254 (-7.65% vs. Dec. 2010)

-Chatelaine (French language edition): 170,137 (-2.90% vs. Dec. 2010)
