HBO Canada, which is offered by Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central in Western Canada and Astral’s The Movie Network in Eastern Canada is promoting the return of Game of Thrones with touring events, featuring the iron throne itself which visitors can sit in.

Touching down at the Vancouver International Film Centre this Friday, the event starts with a day-long marathon of the first season of Game of Thrones beginning at 8 a.m., Winny Hui Giannini, director of marketing, Corus Entertainment, tells MiC.

Targeted at adults 25-to-54, the show is being promoted in this way because of its large and engaged fan base, she says.

“This has been an epic promotion for us,” she says. “We are making sure to tap into all the fans and give them something to experience the touch and feel of the series. We know it has such a great fan base and we wanted to give something back to them.”

The iron throne also stopped in Toronto (pictured) earlier this month as part of Game of Thrones: The Exhibition at the TIFF Bell Lightbox executed by Astral. The 10-day event saw 25,000 visitors photographed on the iconic iron throne and celebrity appearances by show star Michelle Fairley who plays Catelyn Stark and a sold-out event with the author of the Game of Thrones series, George R. R. Martin.

The second season of Game of Thrones premieres on April 1 at 9 p.m. on Movie Central in Western Canada and on The Movie Network in Eastern Canada.
