OUTtv triples AMA ratings during free preview

The LGBT specialty channel expanded its core demo of males and drew in women aged 24 to 54.

A recent free preview paid off for OUTtv. The specialty channel was made available free to cable subscribers across the country in March and saw average AMA ratings spike 300% over the same month in the previous year.

Episodes from the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race led the way as the LBGT specialty channel recorded its highest AMA ratings ever for the month of March, according to a press release.

Brad Danks, COO, OUTtv, tells MiCĀ that generally the audience OUTtv captures when it’s more broadly available is straight women 35 to 55, especially for RuPaul’s Drag Race. That builds on its core 25-to-54 audience, which skews male.

Danks says the station has a big activation planned in July for World Pride month. Stoli Vodka will be taking over the OUTtv website with page dominations allowing the broadcaster to make its digital library available online – including the most recent and past seasons of RuPaul Drag Race, Queer As Folk and others – to subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
