Next Issue Canada is going bilingual, launching a French version of its app, and adding 20 Quebec-based titles to its roster.
Titles being added to the new app, which launches on April 20, include Châtelaine, Custom Tour, Déco Réno $ and Ricardo.
Rogers Media and Next Issue launched Next Issue Canada at the end of 2013. The service currently has over 100 English language titles.
Next Issue Canada offers 30-day free trials to new users, after which the service costs $9.99 a month for unlimited access to all titles on the app.
The media company is putting a heavy marketing push behind the launch in Quebec, due to low awareness of Next Issue Canada in the province. Brinda Luckoo, senior director, Next Issue Canada, Rogers Media, says the company will be promoting it through a multi-platform campaign beginning at the start of May. In addition to print, OOH, digital and TV ads, Next Issue Canada will be setting up kiosks in malls across Quebec, aiming to show people the service one-on-one.
Since it was first launched, Next Issue Canada has had over five million magazine downloads, with about 250,000 titles read on the app each week, says Luckoo. Rogers Media declined to comment on the number of subscribers to Next Issue Canada. Currently readership of Next Issue Canada accounts for 13% of total circulation at Rogers Media.
