Suzanne Raitt dies at 49

The Newspapers Canada SVP and CMO has passed away after a six-month battle with cancer.

Suzanne Raitt, SVP and CMO with Newspapers Canada, has died at the age of 49 following a six-month battle with cancer.

Raitt had been in the newspaper industry for 14 years, starting at Newspapers Canada in 2001, before moving to the Toronto Star in 2006, and returning to Newspapers Canada in 2009. Prior to joining Newspapers Canada, Raitt worked at a variety of agencies, companies and organizations, including Nielsen, Hershey Canada, Saatchi & Saatchi and MacLaren McCann.

She is survived by her husband Mike, and sons Mathew and Christopher.

Visitation and service will be held today at St. Olave’s Anglican Church, 360 Windermere Ave., Toronto. The visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m., with the service starting at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to cancer charities.
