2015 Digi Awards finalists announced

The finalists of the 2015 Digi Awards have been announced, including nominations for CarmillaAnimalogicBig Brother Canada season three and Murdoch Mysteries: Infernal Device.

Five finalists were named to each of the 11 categories, which included Branded Content, Digital Series Fiction, Digital Series Nonfiction, Gaming, Interactive Content – Fiction, Interactive Content – Kids, Interactive Content – Nonfiction, Mobile Entertainment, Mobile Utilities, Multi-Channel Communications and Video Marketing and Advertising. The awards are meant to recognize the best in digital media content, with finalists determined by a jury made up of tech experts, content programmers and community leaders, including reps from CBC, Corus Entertainment, DHX Media and Blue Ant Media.

In the Branded Content category, the chosen finalists were Carmilla (Smokebomb Entertainment), Life is Calling (Discovery/Jeep Canada), Just Eat’s 13 Spicy Nights (Jam3) and PAW Patrol (Spin Master) and the Big Brother Canada season three app (Secret Location).

Nominations in the Digital Series Nonfiction section were Animalogic (Blue Ant Media), Avatar Secrets (Ramona Pringle Productions, and produced in association with TVO), Tornado Hunters (Saloon Media), 13 Spicy Nights (Jam3) and Do Not Track (Upian, Arte France and the National Film Board of Canada).

Interactive Content – Fiction nominees included Murdoch Mysteries: The Infernal Device (CBC, Smokebomb), and the Insidious Chapter 3 – Into The Further app (Secret Location).

Secret Location also nabbed a nomination for The Next Step: Make A Scene in the Interactive Content – Kids section, where marblemedia was also nominated for its Open Heart: Unlocked! app.

Elsewhere, MsLabelled (Smokebomb) was nominated in the Digital Series Fiction category, and Blood, Sweat & Tools (Jam3) and Carmilla (Smokebomb) were named as finalists in the Multi-Channel Communications section.

The 2015 Digi Awards ceremony, hosted by Jonathan and Drew Scott, will be held at Toronto’s MaRS on Nov. 10. A full list of the nominees can be found here.
