ACTRA reaches tentative agreement

After almost 18 months of National Commercial Agreement (NCA) negotiations, ACTRA has reached a tentative agreement with the associations that represent Canada's advertising industry (ICA/ACA). Details will be discussed at a town hall meeting for ACTRA Toronto members tomorrow night at 7 pm at U of T's Victoria University Isabel Bader Theatre.

ACTRA had asked for a 'conciliation officers report' in September which would have allowed the union to be in a legal strike position by mid-October.

The biggest sticking points of the negotiations have been in the areas of new media provisions in the contract and the union's refusal to accept reduced earnings for performers resulting from ad agency redefinition of job categories.
