CTV and The Comedy Network commission new comedy pilots
Pilots for two new half-hour sitcoms, Dan for Mayor, starring Fred Ewanuick (pictured), and Hiccups, starring Nancy Robertson, have been commissioned by CTV and The Comedy Network.
Gemini Award-winning Corner Gas writers and producers Mark Farrell, Paul Mather and Kevin White are creating Dan For Mayor around the character of Dan (Ewanuick, also from Corner Gas) as he finds himself running for mayor of Wessex, a fictional town in Ontario. Production is set to begin Oct. 20, outside Toronto.
Hiccups, written and executive produced by Corner Gas comedian Brent Butt, begins shooting in Vancouver later this month. The pilot revolves around Millie Upton (Robertson), a children's author with emotional quirks who often experiences fits of depression and raging episodes, or "hiccups."
Dan for Mayor is produced by Sad Glasses and QVF, while Hiccups is produced by Sparrow Media, both in association with CTV and The Comedy Network.
