Toronto Sun boosts new media opps

The newspaper is gung ho about developing convergence initiatives with marketers.

Mike Nesbitt, former general manager of operations at SUN TV, has been drafted to the company’s print side, joining the Toronto Sun in the newly created position of GM of new media. His mandate is to develop multimedia projects at the newspaper and coordinate complementary initiatives with sister enterprises Canoe, 24 Hours and SUN TV.

The move signals the intention of parent company Quebecor Media to leverage new media options as its newspapers progress toward becoming multiplatform and multimedia.
