CASSIES add media category

At this year's ceremony in November, a savvy team will walk away with a newly minted 'Best Use of Media' award.

The awards ceremony for the CASSIES, Canada’s only advertising awards based on proven business effectiveness, will be held in Toronto on November 6 – for the first time, in the evening. Two new categories have been added.

One is ‘Best Use of Media,’ for which judges will be considering a clever combination of innovation and effectiveness, preferably (but not necessarily) involving non-traditional platforms.

The other is the self-explanatory ‘Canadian Contribution to a Global or Multi-Country Campaign.’ Additionally, the CASSIES have repositioned the ‘Import/Export’ category as ‘Canadian Success Outside Canada.’ It applies to work developed by Canadian companies that runs in the US, Europe, Asia, Africa and/or Australasia.

Chair of Judging this year is Bill Durnan, EVP/convergent CD, Cossette Toronto, and his panel will be announced at a later date. The CASSIES are presented by the Institute of Communications and Advertising (ICA), the Association des agences de Publicité du Québec (AAPQ) and Le Publicité Club de Montréal (PCM). The deadline for entries (online only) is July 12.
