Toronto-based Corus Entertainment has begun streaming ads with its broadband programming for kids. The broadcaster’s online programming library includes over 1,000 videos and 200 full-length eps of shows from YTV and Treehouse, including Ruby Gloom, Captain Flamingo, Robot Boy, Erky Perky and Monster Warriors.
Corus Television Interactive VP and GM Lucie Lalumiere says the net’s digital lineup has generated over five million views since September and averages 750,000 views per month – which is about 60% growth in four months. Director of business development Frank Duyvelshoff says the introduction of streamed video ads will allow advertisers to ‘connect with our audiences seamlessly in the way clients have come to expect.’
The ads are streamed pre-roll or mid-roll. Among the clients who’ve come on board for streamed ads are Hasbro, Kids Help Phone and Concerned Children’s Advertisers, which recently launched its new ‘Health Rocks’ spot on YTV and Treehouse.
Corus’ kid-targeted websites – YTV.com, TreehouseTV.com and DiscoveryKids.ca – reach over 1.5 million unique viewers per month.
