Best Buy sells mobile superiority with new online search tool

Given the complexity of the cell phone category, Best Buy Mobile determined a site that enables comparison shopping is the best advertising avenue.

Burnaby, BC-HQ’d Best Buy Canada is launching a new site, BestBuyMobile.ca, to better inform consumers on the new Best Buy Mobile stores.

The site, available in English and French, allows browsers to search for and compare rate plans and prices before deciding on a mobile phone and service plan.

‘Best Buy consumers like to search for deals on Best Buy’s site before visiting the store,’ Phil Johnston, director of wireless solutions at Best Buy Canada, tells MiC. ‘The new mobile site is a great way to advertise Best Buy Mobile in an upfront and clear way.’

The site is currently being promoted in-store at Best Buy Mobile using weekly flyers and the monthly buyers’ guide. A link to the mobile site is also provided on BestBuy.ca. A full-scale ad campaign done in-house is scheduled to roll out this winter.

As one of Canada’s largest e-retailers, Best Buy Canada’s site generates over 34 million page views each year and 83,000 unique visitors each day.
