As part of the first stage in a multi-phase rollout of Family.ca‘s online community, Astral Media’s Family Channel is launching a new customizable website for kids – by kids – with new sponsorship opps. One of the most popular kids’ sites in Canada, with nearly a million unique visitors a month, the site’s new Famclub lets kids design an online space that reflects their personal style and interests with their very own Never-A-Dull-Moment tab-page.
Famclub members can add wacky horoscopes, birthday announcements and news feed elements to keep them up to date on Family’s online games, videos and new programming. They can also create pages with their favourite colours and choose from a selection of stylized themes designed after popular Family series and characters. The site can also be designed to interact with Family’s online and on-air properties – games, videos and program minisites – and additional interactive elements will be announced throughout the year.
Brands are invited to get in on the fun with sponsorship opportunities on the site’s customized design features, survey questions and branded games or activities.
For the launch of Famclub, Family Channel has developed a set of Internet Safety Tips in partnership with the Kids’ Internet Safety Alliance (KINSA), and is also partnering with KINSA for an upcoming Internet safety episode of The Latest Buzz.
In addition to its games pages, Family.ca features contests, full-episode streams, video podcasts and program minisites, including the Gemini Award-winning minisite for the original Canadian series Life With Derek.
