CMT bows new series this winter

Both Canadian-produced primetime comedies, set to launch this January, target the 25-54 demo.

Two original comedies are hitting country music lifestyle programmer CMT Canada this winter. Targeting the 25-54 demo of college-educated, middle-class suburbanites, Three Chords From The Truth follows an ambitious woman – played by Gemini Award winner Phyllis Ellis – as she attempts to survive life after 40 as head of a struggling country music TV network.

The Canadian-produced series’ first run spans five weeks with double back-to-back episodes every Sunday, premiering Jan. 25 at 10 pm ET; the second has single eps airing every week for 10 weeks starting Feb. 1.

All About… focuses on the life, career and philosophies of country music stars Johnny Reid, LeAnn Rimes, Brooks & Dunn, Kellie Pickler, Aaron Pritchett and Trace Adkins. Each half-hour, beginning on Jan. 5 at 7 pm ET, follows a different star’s road to success through interviews and video clips.

The network’s online properties include CMT.ca, which gets 3 million impressions every month, and MyCMT, a national online community dedicated to country music launched this year, which marks a first for a Canadian broadcaster. CMT is available to 9.5 million households in Canada.
