BBC Worldwide added Usha Samuel as BBC.com digital ad sales manager for Canada. Samuel, whose previous positions include BBC World News and Corus Entertainment, will be the first Canadian repping BBC.com‘s customized media solutions to the Canadian digital advertising community.
SVP BBC North America media sales Mark Gall tells MiC, ‘Canadian advertisers are able to advertise on a truly global news site – throughout Canada or geo-targeted by city and region – that is comparable in audience size to any news offering in the market. ‘
Based at BBC Worldwide’s Toronto office, Samuel will work in tandem with Gall, who will be based in New York.
Targeting the highly affluent 25-54 demo, BBC.com‘s monthly unique visitors average at 2.2 million in Canada (according to comScore data), and have a unique user (UU) reach in Canada at 8.1% of the total Internet UU audience, ranking second after cbc.ca in minutes per user (13.7 vs 15.5).
Opportunities include display ads on BBC.com, section buy-outs and sponsorships including weather and topical pages like the Oscars and Formula One.
While BBC.com‘s ad sales have been represented by global teams in almost every major media market in the world, Gall says ‘the world’s most influential advertisers and ad agencies have encouraged us to expand our offerings and customer stewardship to include representation in Canada.’
