American Idol belts its way to the top

Amazing Race 14 arrives in second place.

Here are the national champs (for all persons 2+; all times ET) according to BBM/Nielsen for April 20 – 26, 2009:

Monday: Two and a Half Men on CTV at 9:00 pm attracted the largest audience for the night with 1.362 million viewers. (The Corner Gas series finale on CTV attracted the largest audience for the night the previous week with 2.914 million viewers.)

Tuesday: American Idol on CTV at 8 pm won over 2.306 million viewers as the most-watched program of the night and the week. (The talent show was also the most popular program the previous Tuesday with 2.274 million viewers.)

Wednesday: Criminal Minds on CTV at 10 pm was the highest-rated program of the week. (It beat out long-time champ American Idol results show on CTV, which had an audience of 1.980 million the previous week.)

Thursday: Grey’s Anatomy on CTV at 9 pm was most watched for the night with 2.054 million viewers. (Survivor: Tocantins was the highest-rated program the previous week with 1.786 million viewers.)

Friday: Flashpoint on CTV at 9 pm attracted the largest audience with 1.277 million viewers. (CTV Evening News was most popular the previous week with 1.221 million viewers.)

Saturday: CTV Evening News Weekend Edition was most watched on Saturday with 1.008 million viewers. (Round 1 of the NHL Playoffs on CBC, which moved to a Monday through Thursday broadcast, was most watched the previous week by 1.073 million viewers.)

Sunday: Amazing Race on CTV at 8 pm topped the ratings for the night and was the second most popular for the week with 2.178 million viewers. (Amazing Race was also most watched the previous Sunday night with 2.070 million viewers.)
