Moses Znaimer’s Toronto radio station, The New AM740 Zoomer Radio, got a new online home to match its new name this week, moving from AM740.ca to ZoomerRadio.ca.
The new site will feature blogs from on-air hosts such as John Gallagher, Norm Edwards, Bill Gable and Ziggy, as well as weekly listener polls and contests. New video features include a series of on-demand videos of Live from the Concert Lobby of The New AM 740, a series of live in-house live performances.
The launch is being promoted on-air on the station and via other Zoomer properties such as Zoomer Magazine, 50plus.com, Carp.ca, Zoomers.ca, as well as through a Toronto-wide transit campaign featuring the Happy Gang from the AM740 morning show.
Opportunities to advertise to the site’s 45-plus demographic will be expanded with the new look and functionality, Zoomer Media spokesperson Leanne Wright tells MiC. Sponsorship of the weekly web polls and live concerts is available, as well as branding of the site’s audio player and the Zoomer Report, a blog by Libby Znaimer. Further opportunities being developed include webisodes and longer-form videos featuring a product or service. Zoomer Media also plans to experiment with different ad units in the site’s videos, such as mid-roll ads, post-roll ads and video overlays.
Google Analytics statistics peg the site’s traffic at an average of 13,651 unique monthly visits from September 2008 to September 2009. Between Aug. 3, 2009 and Sept. 3, 2009, however, as the site transitioned to Zoomer Radio, it experienced a 37% increase over the monthly average in unique visitors. On average, online listeners tune in for an average of 90 minutes.
