Score Media acquires Serie A rights

The iconic Italian football league's games will now be broadcast exclusively in Canada by Score Media, with sponsorship opportunities for the multi-platform broadcast.

Every Torontonian knows there is no place more exciting to watch World Cup soccer games than Little Italy. Now the nation’s iconic soccer league, Serie A, will be broadcast across Canada in a new deal between Score Media and international sports broadcast distributor, MP & Silva.

Programming details are still being ironed out, but The Score has acquired full digital rights as well, which means the content will also be distributed across the TheScore.com, ScoreMobile and ScoreMobile web. The extent of the media coverage Serie A will get via the Score means there are lots of sponsorship and integration opportunities open to brands, Susan Arthur, VP marketing and brand strategy, ScoreMedia, tells MiC.

‘We have an opportunity to work directly with clients to build branded content, media adjacencies, sponsorships and best-in-class strategic partnerships,’ says Arthur.

Serie A, which is followed by fans the world over including Canada, will be promoted on air, specifically on The Footy Show, a program dedicated to soccer news and highlights, as well as on The Score’s online properties and through listings.
