Citytv readies the Bachelor Pad

The new series will meld The Bachelor and The Bachelorette franchises together for an all-star summer mashup.

Fans of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette series will be getting their roses ready Aug. 9 for the premiere of The Bachelor Pad, an all-star series that melds contestants from two franchises.

Starting in two weeks in the Monday 8 p.m. timeslot, The Bachelor Pad will pit 19 contestants against one another to be the last person standing and the chance to win $250,000. All 19 contestants are from previous editions of the show, and will include two Canadian faces as well, Craig McKinnon and Jessie Sulidis.

Targeting 18- to 49-year-olds, each episode will be two hours, and Citytv is promoting The Bachelor Pad with on-air promos, newspaper ads and social media. A signature media feature of the Bachelor franchise on Citytv will also continue, an online live chat that is meant to promote dual-screen viewing of the show. Sponsorship of the chat is available, which includes on-air bumpers, display ads alongside the chat, video ads inserted in the chat and banners promoting it.

The premiere of The Bachelor this January earned 2.7 million viewers, while the fourth-last episode of The Bachelorette on Citytv earned 1.137 million viewers the week of July 12 to 18, 2010.
