Postmedia names Brouwer to exec team

The former Metroland Media VP will head Postmedia's Business Ventures division.

The Postmedia Network executive team continues to expand this week with the naming of Alvin Brouwer as president, Business Ventures.

The former VP, advertising and product development at Metroland Media will start in his new position Sept. 7.

At Metroland, Brouwer worked with Flyerland.ca and served on the boards of Save.ca and Leasebusters.com, both of which are partly owned by Torstar. His hire signals a move forward in Postmedia’s expanded digital strategy, to which company CEO Paul Godfrey has alluded to many times in recent Postmedia announcements.

‘The exciting transformation ahead will include expanding Postmedia’s digital presence through strategic partnerships, new business models and revenue streams,’ Brouwer said in a release.

The announcement follows a flurry of appointments made in July and August since Postmedia Network completed its acquisition of Canwest LP on July 13.
