Teletoon is punching up its ‘at night’ offering this month with the addition of ‘Fearless’ Fred Kennedy as the host of interstitial programming during the adult cartoon block.
Starting Oct. 17, Fred at Night will kick the lineup off at 10 p.m. with a three-minute opener and will also be on between shows throughout the two hours, setting up Robot Chicken, The Dating Guy, Archer and the Teletoon at Night Pilot Project. He’ll also be commenting on music, comics, movies, celebrities and current events, and will be interviewing show creators, fans and voice actors.
The block’s target is 18- to 34-year-old men.
Sponsorship of the programming block or individual shows is available, as are contest tie-ins. Integration opportunities during Fred’s segments are available as well, including set props and interview-segment sponsorships. The opportunities for brand involvement also extend to the website.
Fred at Night will also be directly promoted to its target demo with a tour of campus bars in Guelph, London, Toronto and Vancouver this fall.
Kennedy, who is the drive-home DJ for Corus-owned Edge 102.1, will also be posting content to Teletoonatnight.com, writing blog posts, appearing in video segments and dissecting cartoons, Sean O’Donoghue, director of sales promotion, Teletoon Canada, tells MiC.
‘He’s going to be able to invite all of his fans and bring them to the ‘at night’ block, and he has followers on his own blog that we’re going to be able to connect to,’ says O’Donoghue. ‘From a sponsorship point of view, you’re not only going to be able to work off what Teletoon’s done and Teletoon at Night, but also off another established brand: Fred.’
