Media in Canada account manager Neil Ewen spotted Porter Airlines using the personal approach to connect with existing and potential customers last week. The airline is sending street teams to hand out promo codes and toy glider planes in Canadian cities, including Toronto, Halifax and St. John’s.
Working with Toronto-based agency Trojan One, street teams dressed in Porter’s signature uniforms help to reinforce the brand’s presence in target cities, Brad Cicero, manager communications and public affairs tells MiC.
“Porter passengers are our best brand ambassadors and word of mouth is our strongest marketing tool,” he says. “So the more people that have a chance to try us out, the better. Getting someone interested in a weekend trip to Boston means that we also have a good chance of seeing them again in the fall when they’re travelling on business to places like Toronto, Quebec City, Montreal and Ottawa.”
