Bomb Girls greenlit for second season

The wartime drama will be back on Global TV for another round, following a successful six-part series launch.

It appears that sassy gals, handsome soldiers and behind-the-frontlines drama are a winning primetime formula, because Bomb Girls is coming back for another round.

A day ahead of the first-season finale, Shaw Media announced this morning that a second, 12-ep season for the series has been greenlit. No word yet on a potential date for the start of production or target broadcast date, but Global said in a statement that development will begin “shortly.”

Bomb Girls‘ six-part first season airs on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on Global, and has done well for the net, earning an average of 1.2 million viewers per episode over the five week period since its launch. Its premiere episode on Jan. 4 earned 1.6 million viewers. (All data 2+ national, confirmed, BBM Canada.)

Bomb Girls follows the lives of Canadian women working in a munitions factory during the Second World War , and stars Meg Tilly, Jodi Balfour, Charlotte Hegele, Ali Liebert, Antonio Cupo, Anastasia Philips, Sebastian Pigott and Peter Outerbridge.

The series season finale airs Wednesday Feb. 8 at 8 p.m.
