JFL42 kicks off this fall

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the new comedy and interactive festival which will be headlined by Louis CK in Toronto this fall.

The founders of Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival are rolling out a new comedy and interactive event this fall in Toronto, JFL42.

Aimed at consumers aged 18 to 35, Andy Nulman, Just for Laughs group president, television and festivals, tells MiC the festival is designed as the Just for Laughs Festival for the future.

“The event came together by sitting in a room and thinking if we had to start Just for Laughs all over today what would it look like?” he says. “The target demo for this festival is young people aged 18 to 35, but it is also a psychographic as well of people who are digitally focused, people who are digitally savvy. I hate to use the word hipster, but it is the Queen West vibe we are going for with this event.”

Sponsorship opportunities for the event, which runs from September 21 to 28 are available, with Air Canada being announced as the co-presenting sponsor. The festival will feature 42 attractions over the week, and comedian Louis CK is signed on as the headlining act.

Paperless mobile tickets will be used for the event, with festival pass holders being able to design their own schedule. Based on demand for events from pass holders, certain shows could add extra dates or times or be moved to bigger venues, according to a JFL42 release.
