Magazines dip in first half of 2012

The ABC report has Reader's Digest as the magazine with the largest overall circulation, with Maclean's tops in total digital replicas.

The Audit Bureau of Circulation Canada (ABC) has released its numbers for the first six months of 2012, with paid subscriptions for the 66 titles measured down 5.9%, from 5.28 million in 2011 to 4.97 million so far this year versus the same period last year. This continues the downslide off the final six months of 2011, which saw all numbers dip.

Single-copy sales are down 1.6% for the first half of 2012, from 1.23 million in 2011 to 1.21 million.

Total paid and verified circulation is down 3.1% for the first six months of 2012, from 6.8 million in 2011 to 6.6 million at the end of June this year.

This report marks the first time total digital replica editions are broken out in its own category by the organization, they were previously included in the topline paid and verified circulation number.
