Spotted! Godzilla wreaks havoc on downtown Toronto

Warner Bros. Canada creates a scene of destruction to promote the monster film due out this Friday.

No, Rob Ford hasn’t escaped rehab and gone on a tear. The havoc at Yonge and Elm is merely the result of Godzilla having descended upon Toronto.

To promote the film’s release this Friday, Warner Bros. Canada commissioned the scene of destruction featuring a retired TTC subway car, as well as a torched cab and airplane fuselage.

The installation was created by the Juxta Productions team lead by Patrick Little. A Warner Bros. spokesperson tells MiC, “playing on the movie’s theme of mass destruction, the publicity team at WB worked to create a newsworthy stunt using a very traditional media space.”

Warner Bros. executed this activation on its own, but also engaged OMD Canada for media planning across other platforms. A spokesperson from OMD tells MiC the campaign included TV, OOH, radio and digital buys targeted at adults 18 to 49.
