Rookie Blue will return to Global for a sixth season, Barb Williams, Shaw Media’s SVP of content, has confirmed ahead of the broadcaster’s upfront presentation Wednesday.

The police drama will return to Global next spring/summer, Williams said.

The fifth season of Rookie opened to impressive ratings this spring, with its final ratings clocking in at over 1.8 million (1.3 million overnight). This represented a 15% increase over the season four premiere of the series, and an 11% increase in viewers 18 to 49 who tuned in to the premiere.

The series also premiered this spring out of simulcast with its US broadcaster ABC, which will premiere the series’ fifth season on June 19.
