The 2014 Much Music Video Awards have sold out the sponsorship slate around the show, which airs this Sunday on Much and CTV at 9 p.m.
New to the sponsorship list this year are Bud Light Lime-A-Rita, Scotiabank and Samsung. Also on as sponsors are Diet Coke, H&M, Wonka Nerds, P&G, Subway Restaurants and Virgin Mobile Canada.
Dave Caporicci, managing director, brand partnerships at Bell Media, tells MiC that there are a few new sponsored elements for this year’s broadcast, including an after-show with the MMVA Style Squad hosting a post-awards recap of the fashion trends in partnership with H&M.
The show will premiere online on June 18 at 9 p.m. and will be broadcast on Much the following day at 7 p.m. In addition to the after-show, H&M is activating by creating a dress for MMVA Red Carpet co-host and Much VJ Liz Trinnear in partnership with the Ryerson School of Fashion and hosting an online contest for gift card giveaways by asking users to upload the outfits they are wearing with the hashtag #MMVA #HMOOTD.
Also new is Samsung’s activation, bringing back the MMVA Street Party, which will be broadcasting live from Calgary on Sunday. The party will be hosted by M3’s Gaby Henderson and feature a performance from Keys N Krates, with elements of the party being streamed into the awards broadcast on Much and CTV.
In all, the Bell Media team will be creating over eight minutes of live sponsored content during the awards show, says Caporicci, with spots coming for each of the nine sponsors.
