W Network is bringing two of its stars to YouTube, announcing that Hockey Wives‘ Maripier Morin and Game of Homes‘ Cheryl Torrenueva, are each getting their own channel on Kin Community Canada’s MCN this summer.
Morin’s channel will be called Pardon my French and Torrenueva’s Simply Cher Cher, each will launch with a new video going live once per week on the same day in order to create consistency and build up their fan bases, says Rick Matthews, senior manager of partnerships, Kin Community Canada.
He adds Morin and Torrenueva were chosen as the first W Network stars to get channels on the MCN because of their existing social followings, noting Morin already has 77,000 followers on Instagram.
Pardon My French will be a fashion-focused channel, with Morin sharing style hacks and fashion tips. Simply Cher Cher will take viewers behind the scenes with Torrenueva, with design, health and beauty tips that aim to help them save time, and live with purpose.
Matthews says because the pair are already on W Network, their new Kin Community Canada channels will offer cross-platform brand integration opportunities.
Corus Entertainment invested in Kin last fall, and announced it would be launching Kin Canada, with goals to triple the number of Canadian creators on the network in the first six months to a year.
