Jays viewing up this spring: Sportsnet

The Rogers Media channel is having a record season of Blue Jays coverage and its primetime news show, Sportsnet Central is up 35% for the year to date.

A fierce and entertaining rivalry between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Baltimore Orioles led to Sportsnet’s highest-rated Jays game of the season, the caster is reporting.

The June 19 matchup brought in a million viewers, building on a seasonal average of 622,000. Overall, the season to June 30 is up 8% year-over-year.

Rogers Media is reporting that its flagship sports brand had an AMA of 172,000 from January to June, with June gaining 4% over its AMA last year.

The brand saw an increase in Sportsnet Central viewing as well, posting a 35% increase year-over-year for the six months ending June 30, for an average audience of 144,000.

Online, Sportsnet.ca saw a 29% increase in its total unique visitors for the month of May 2015, in comparison with the same period in 2014, according to comScore data provided by the company. Total page views for that same period – including PC, smartphone and tablet – increased by 84%.  In the five month period leading up to May 31 this year, 66% more unique visitors and 46% more page views were generated on personal computers.
